Support Extra Life and possibly win a seat to FADECON 2016!
Extra Life began in 2008 as a way of honoring a young lady named Victoria Enmon. Tori’s battle against lymphoblastic leukemia inspired the Sarcastic Gamer Community in a way that is difficult to describe. Members sent in video games and bought gifts to keep Tori’s spirits up despite numerous hospital stays and three bouts with the deadly disease.
Tragically, we lost Tori to cancer in January 2008. Later that year, the Sarcastic Gamer community started Extra Life, a 24-hour video game marathon to raise money for the hospital that treated and fought beside Tori. In 2008 and 2009, Extra Life raised a combined $302,000, 100 percent of which went directly to help kids like Tori at Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (Texas Children’s Hospital).
Over time, Extra Life spread worldwide so that gamers could raise money for their own local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and now tens of millions of dollars have been raised by gamers around the globe! And every penny raised goes directly to each team’s local hospital.
In Dallas, Texas there is a chapter of Starfleet International, a registered 501(c) Non-Profit Organization called the USS Artemis which will embark on its third year as participants in the Extra Life marathon. In year one, the Artemis raised $900. In year two, they raised over $1,600. This year, they’ve titled the event “The Drive for $2,015” with a goal to raise $2,015 in the year 2015.
We’ll be randomly drawing one winner of a Swag Pack that will include one VIP seat to FADECON 2016! . Each donation of $10 gets you one entry in the raffle. Example: if you donate $30, that’s three “tickets”.
The crew of the USS Artemis would like to thank the gang at FADECON for helping us sponsor this event.
